Testing Egg Freshness

Checking how much an egg floats in water is a simple way to tell if it is still fresh. Eggs that are still fresh will sink and lie flat, but eggs that are older may stand up or float.

Ingredients:

• 1 fresh egg
• 1 bowl of water

Instructions:

Fill a bowl with water

Carefully place the egg in the water bowl

Observe the eggs behavior in the water

If the egg sinks and lies flat on the bottom, it is very fresh and safe to eat

If the egg stands upright on the bottom but doesnt float to the top, it is still good to eat but not as fresh

If the egg floats to the top, it is no longer fresh and should be discarded
